HBO documentaries have one more fantastic addition – Jason Hehir’s movie ‘Andre the Giant.’ It has unveiled a completely different side of the legendary tallest man in the world. André René Roussimoff (1946-1993) was known to the world as André the Giant, a French-born international wrestling superstar, actor, and unofficially the carrier of “the greatest drunk on Earth” title. However, the documentary reveals that he drank because he was in pain. Roussimoff denied treatment for fear that it would change his body on which he built his entire career on. André weighed 520 lb and was 7 ft 4 in tall and suffered from acromegaly, or “giantism.”

Wrestling legends Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair, actors Robin Wright and Billy Crystal, as well as André’s family and friends, offer a unique insight into the legend’s life. From personal emotional struggles to dangerous farts, the sports documentary shows André the Giant facts of the particular person that he was, a man who couldn’t find comfort in the world that was not made for him.
